Eklund: Bobby Ryan is the Best. A Must Read. Buzz@1 - Eklund
I just wish the Players' Tribune would hire a few more ghost writers.
When Bobby Ryan's story is in the exact same voice as Doug Gilmour's story, it tends to erode the credibility a little.
And by "a little", I mean "a lot." |

im sure they're wonderful, bright children.
but change the world? that kind of rhetoric can be very harmful to children. - DoubleDown
well like everything else around here, his mentioning it likely makes it untrue anyway. |

Harmful?
How exactly?
They know that they have a parent that cares for them and thinks they can do great things?
Would they be better off if he thought they'd never amount to anything? |

Clearly, your statement just proves you process of thining relys on comparision. Yet, there is a pretty evident irony. You say things that you can't even grasp, especially since you cannot relate at any level to the extreme delicate situation this man and his family had to live through. Such survivors tend to become acheivers in the process of overcoming greif. For this reason, it is not outside of the realm to think that his kids, who will have been brought up by great values, have a great private education and have some public influence due to the success of their father, would be in a good position to acheive in life and to make a difference in this world.
With such statement, you have simply solidified Bobby Ryan's comment. Any human raised with those values in comparision to the values you have just demonstrated, will have made an immediate impact on this world.
I wish you best of luck in your life bud, because you are going to need it.

Bobby Ryan is an exemplary human being. He is smart, polite, kind, and professional.
One of my favorite players since he wore #54 in Anaheim as a rookie. Him scoring with Koivu's (left-handed) stick is one of my favorite hockey moments. Needless to say, I was thrilled when he became a Sen, and I wear my #6 jersey on game days.
His story is very compelling. And the fact that he is such a gentleman makes him impossible not to like (enter trolls lol).
Sorry for your loss, Bobby. May your mother's light shine through in your daughter.
Your biggest fan
